All good coffee brewing equipment dumped the hot plate years ago in favor of thermal carafes. Why? Because brewing coffee is cooking, and the longer you apply the heat source, the more it causes evaporation, dehydration, and leaves a bitter, drecky residue in the pot. So what's the supposed "high-tech" answer? Commit more atrocities to coffee using a USB port. Geniuses, I swear... Let me get this straight.
