Tomb Raider Reboot Trailer Revealed
OK, this isn’t technically a gadget but it is a something for your gadget—your PS3. Crystal Dynamics has released the first trailer for the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot and it’s looking gorgeous—so gorgeous in fact that the first few seconds got me thinking they hired actors to portray the in-game characters during the cut scene. Wrong, it’s really that gorgeous.
If the visuals of the game are any indication on how well it will play, then we’re in for a real treat. The last two games of the installment—Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Underworld—have been a step forward for the critically-acclaimed but Crystal Dynamics have decided to revitalize the series with this new reboot
Not much is known about the premise or the features the 21-year old Lara Croft is able to perform. All that’s known is that it takes place before the first 1996 game when the young Croft is just a budding archaeologist. Crystal Dynamics would only say:
Forget everything you know about Tomb Raider, we are exploring things that have never been done before in this game… This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other.
The first trailer shows Croft onboard a ship that’s been capsized, leaving Croft like we’ve never seen her before: bloodied and wounded, and stranded on an island with only a few weapons (not including her trademark pistols), showing a grittier feel and atmosphere compared to previous games.
The game is set to be released in Fall 2012.
