Hot Pot Portable Solar Cooker

One of the things I love about the warm season is spending time outdoors like hiking. With the Hot Pot Portable Solar Cooker you can achieve cooking temperatures for stew or baked goods within just an hour in the full sun. The oven can reach temperatures up to 350-400 degrees and comes with a 5.3 quart enameled steel pot utilizing the solar power of the Sun.

What’s also great is that when you purchase a Hot Pot, you also help subsidize the distribution of this device in developing countries to reduce deforestation and respiratory disease caused by traditional cooking methods.

Breastlight self-examination tool

April 18th, 2009 No comments

I was going to write a smarmy post about the best way to examine breasts, but decided instead to take the high road.  I’ll be smacking myself for this later I know.

Breast cancer is the most prevalent form of cancer in women.  For women with a history of this disease in their family, it’s almost like a time bomb waiting to go off.  Short of flooding yourself with radiation, the best way to detect it early has been via self-examination.  Unfortunately, unless you really know what you’re supposed to feel, it’s kinda hard to know if you’ve actually found a lump.  Well this little baby helps remove some of the doubt.

Solar Insect Zapper

I am excited about the Summer coming soon. What I am not looking forward to are the pesky mosquitoes always hanging around my lights.

Now there is an easy way to zap them without dampening my electric bill. Mosquitoes, meet the Solar Insect Zapper.

It comes with four solar insect lights that stake into the ground on your yard and harvests the sun’s energy to efficiently deliver 100 varieties of flying insects to their maker.

The UV bulb turns on automatically at dusk and attracts mosquitoes, flies, and other insects and instantly eliminates them with a 300-volt electric charge for up to eight hours on full charge.

The Solar Insect Zapper has a grate surrounding it protecting children and pets. It is made from 100% stainless steel and resists the sun and rain.

It can also easily switch to accent lights with a touch of a button

BrickHouse Child Locator

I was told that as a 3 year old child, I once wandered off at the flea market and my mom lost me. It was only when my uncle who happened to be there found me and brought me home.  Looking back, I wonder how my life would have changed if I had not been found and instead picked up by a stranger.

Meet the BrickHouse Child Locator which will prevent problems like this by alerting you when your chld is too far away. You attach a small tag to your child’s clothing and it will alert the homing device that will lead you to your child in a matter of seconds if your child is leaves the designated zone.

The Locate Mode beeps faster the closer you are to your child and also provides an on-screen display. Your child can also press the Panic Button to alert you of an emergency.

Specifications

  • Locate Your Wandering Child Anywhere
  • Very Easy to Use, Portable Indoor/Outdoor Design Too Far
  • Includes 4 Locator Tags (1 being a Panic Tag)

Bionic eye arrives. Six Million Dollar Man to follow soon!

March 15th, 2009 No comments

A company called Second Sight has just created a prosthetic that is giving sight to the blind.  Well, ok so it’s only one test subject (73 years young!) and all they’ve done is allowed him to detect light.  But for a guy who’s been blind since his 40′s, that’s quite the accomplishment.

The prosthetic works using a tiny camera and processor on the eyeglass frame.  The information is transmitted wirelessly to a tiny received on the outside of the eye.  Ron, the subject, indicated that he’s now able to differentiate between black, white, and grey socks, and that he can follow white lines on the road.

For those of you who grew up with Steve Austin:

  • bionic eye…check!
  • bionic arm….check!
  • bionic leg….check!

I’m planning on retrofitting my entire body when I turn 60.  How about you?

Get REALLY clean with the Aquapeutics Shower.

March 9th, 2009 No comments

I have a thing for showers.  Love ‘em.  So when I saw this, it was lust at first sight.

aqua1 Get REALLY clean with the Aquapeutics Shower.

It’s a shower, it’s a steam room, and it’s a bathtub, so it’s uber-economical (or at least that’s what you can tell your significant other when it shows up on your doorstep to be installed).  The only thing this baby doesn’t come with is an arm to wash you automatically.  Aquapeutics will even take PayPal if you want to order it.  You can plug in your iPod, fire up its TV, turn on the steam, and sit in clean comfort all day.  Or until your body turns into a giant prune.
